The unwanted grasses or plants that grow in a cultivated area, it is known as weed. It also refers to the plants that hinder the growth of the main crop such as chenopodium album,bidens pilosa, amaranthus spp in maize.

The crops that are specially grown on barren lands as the eating material / feeding materials. Those crops on which the animals graze on, are forage crops. For example: legume, sorghum, weeds, alfalfa and more.

Crops that produce starch rich seed which are consumed just like cereals but are produce of non grass species. For example: quinoa, buckwheat, chiaseeds.
