In economics, base period (reference period) refers to the point in time used as a reference point or the basis for an index number, for comparison with other periods.

Those crops that are cultivated especially as the feed to the animals are known as fodder crops. Fodder crops are harvested and used as eating material while forage crops are the crops on the field where animals graze directly. For Example: kale, fodder beet, turnip, corn, wheat, etc.
