Food Crops

The branch of food science that deals with the scientific processes, preservations, management, quality assurance as well as the research and development of new/existing food, it is known as food technology.

Those crops that require support to stand are known as climbing crops. These crops creep on the ground in the absence of a support but climbs and stands tall when provided a support. For example: sweet pea, bitter gourd, ivy.

The agricultural practices conducted in city areas (urban and semi urban) to utilize empty spaces such as rooftops, balconies, backyards and other vacant spaces to grow or raise livestock such as poultry, swine or goats, mostly for home consumption is known as peri urban agriculture.
