Leguminous Crops

Plants that are cultivated for their parts which are used as staple food are known as staple crops. These are the crop parts that are consumed on a daily basis as a traditional diet. For example: rice, maize, wheat, barley, buckwheat, millet.

Those crops that provide food to mankind are known as food crops. For example: cauliflower, apple, radish, turnip, cabbage, mango, pulses.

The various techniques which are used to prolong the shelf life of any plant produce such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc.
